Friends from the Staples area challenged each other to a 12-egg omelette eating contest (along with one pound of hash browns each) recently at the Spot Cafe in Staples. The inspiration came from hearing about a similar contest at Beth’s Cafe in Seattle. Pictured above, from left, are Jake Johnson (Mouthzilla); Nick Trout (The Tank); Chandler Trout (The Protege); and Joe Fink (Little Fury). Given a one-hour time limit, Johnson was the only one who finished eating, with three minutes to spare. Chandler Trout had seven bites to go, but just couldn’t do it, reports Johnson’s mom, Kelly. “I think Jake won because he prepped himself the night before,” she added.
