The race for mayor in Motley is down to two contestants instead of three.

Although Duane Solga had filed, he withdrew his name from the race Aug. 19.

Solga is currently serving the City of Motley as a council member. His four-year term ends in 2012.

Still on November’s ballot will be incumbent Konrad Alexander and Nancy Nieken, a current member of the Motley City Council. Her council terms ends at the end of this year.

Reached by phone Aug. 20, Solga said he decided to drop out of the race when he learned that Nieken had also filed. “I am in support of Nancy,” Solga said.
