Edward Wagner

Edward Joseph Wagner, 93, of Browerville, died July 23, 2010, at the Long Prairie Hospital in Long Prairie.

Funeral services are Friday, July 30, 11 a.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville. Friends may call on Thursday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Little Falls.

Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home in Browerville and Clarissa.

Edward was born Sept. 21, 1916 at the family farm in Moran Township, Todd County Minnesota to Frank and Elizabeth (Tlusty) Wagner. During the depression he worked in North Dakota with grain harvest, later he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, later became attached to what was designated as a Special Detail, which he served within several capacities for the duration of the war in Europe.

He returned to the family farm after the war and on July 8, 1949, he married Jeannine Johnson. Ed continued to farm with his brothers for many years. During the Vietnam War, Ed left the family farm to work at the Twin Cities Arsenal, working for two years and then returned to the farm. Ed left the farm for the last time on June 24, when he went to the Care Center in Clarissa.

He enjoyed working in his work shop, hunting - especially deer - sucker fishing, playing horseshoes and poker with his nephews and neighbors.

Ed is survived by his wife; three sons, Dale (Tonia); Michael (Teresa); Randy; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Tepley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Anton, Thomas, and James and three sisters, Agnes, Clara and baby Louise.
