Clean-Up Day is Saturday at city site

The City of Staples is sponsoring a city wide Cleanup Day this Saturday with personnel on hand from 7 to 11 a.m. at the city street garage area (Michigan and 12th Street NE).

City residents can bring items there where they will be weighed or checked over for pricing. All rubbish, and debris such as furniture, plastic toys, scrap wood and other miscellaneous items will be taken at a charge of 10 cents per pound, weighed on the truck.

Several items will be priced as follows:

Non freon appliances, freon appliances and electronics $5 each;

RV appliances $50 each;

Commercial appliances $5 per foot;

Fluorescent tubes four feet and under .65 cents and over four feet at $1;

Ballasts PCB $1 per pound;

PCB capacitors $2 per pound;

Car batteries, scrap metal and aluminum cans will be accepted free;

Tires will be from $3 to $21 depending on size.

Payment will be accepted on site for cash or check only.

Long Prairie Sanitation and SW Recycling of Willmar will be handling the clean-up, with city of Staples crews on hand to assist.
