Roland Smith
Roland “Rollie” Smith, 67, of Baxter, died July 18, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services were held July 21, at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd with Pastor Kristen Oltmann officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Brainerd.
Rollie was born Aug. 20, 1942 to Albert and Jenne (Fougner) Smith in Lincoln. He was employed with the State of Minnesota for 37 years as a Team Leader in Social Work at the Brainerd State Hospital. He was also active in youth baseball for 14 years. He enjoyed reading about the Civil War and WWII, traveling and his yard. Rollie was a member of the Moose and Eagles clubs in Brainerd. He married Sharon Farber on Aug. 7, 2001 in Brainerd.
Rollie is survived by his wife of nine years; three sons, Craig (Dawn) Smith; Brett (Joy) Smith; Shawn (Melanie) Smith; two step-children, Missy (Jon) Azure; Kelly Anttila; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Amy (Art); Leona; one brother, Allen (Carol); and one sister-in-law, Carole Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Keith “Bud”; Rodney; and his first wife, Karen.
