Two accidents include one Todd County fatality
Two serious accidents, one involving a fatality, took place this week on state highways in Todd County.
The driver of one of three vehicles involved in an accident July 15 north of Clarissa died at the scene.
Scott Brown, 41, of Long Prairie was traveling southbound on Highway 71 in a construction zone when his vehicle was rear ended by a second car, causing it to hit a northbound third vehicle head-on.
His vehicle, a Ford Windstar and a 2000 International truck driven by Eugene Kunstleben, 48, of Avon, were both yielding to the construction workers/ equipment (MNDOT was filling cracks in the roadway) when a Chevy Blazer driven by Melissa J. Titera, 28, of Parker Prairie, approached at a higher rate of speed.
All others involved in the accident were treated and released from Long Prairie Hospital. Titera had two young passengers, Seth Titera, 8, and Austin Titera, 4, with her.
In a second accident, a Verndale woman suffered
serious injuries in an accident about 9: 30 p.m. Saturday night.
Tammy Ashman, 42, the driver of the vehicle, suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition.
Her vehicle was headed west on Highway 210 in Hewitt when it failed to make a curve and struck an unoccupied house. She was transported to the Tri- County Hospital in Wadena and then airlifted to Meritcare in Fargo.
