This year’s Lefty’s Softball Tournament,

which was started 37 years ago by ‘Lefty’ Cameron of Staples, was held July 10 and 11 at Dower Lake softball field

in Staples. Nineteen teams participated, including local teams Captain Ron’s, Gary’s Place and Rosing Woods Cabinets. First place went to the Shockers, St. Cloud, with Team Fubar, Twin Cities area, coming in second. Pictured above, from left, are Al Ness, Tim Miller and Pat Bienusa, Lefty’s softball team members who organized the tournament. There were over 750 people who attended (or participated in) the tournament and except for some lightning on Saturday night which forced them to shut down for a bit, everything went extremely well, Miller said.
