Marvin Swecker
Marvin D. Swecker, 81, of Motley, died July 10, 2010 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center, Staples.
Funeral services were held July 14, at the United Methodist Church in Motley. Burial was in the Motley Public Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Marvin was born April 2, 1929, in Cass County to Leo and Ruth (Seely) Swecker. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Motley. He attended Motley schools, graduating in 1947. On June 11, 1949, he married Wilma Cruse, in Motley. Marv worked as a farmer and for Northern Pacific Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Moltey Lions Club, served on the Motley School Board, Rainbow Riders Saddle Club, Motley Historical Society and volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Marvin is survived by two daughters, Carla (John) Liddington of Fort Worth, Texas; Shelly (Tom) Ladwig of Motley; two sons, Ken (Paula) of Motley; Kevin (Melaine) of Sauk Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Betty Farber.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one great-granddaughter, and his parents.
