Gladys Christensen
Gladys Olive Christensen, 93, died June 28, 2010 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held July 3, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of North Branch with Rev. Gary Guptil officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery of Harris
Arrangements were with the Rock Ingebrand Funeral Hom in Braham.
Gladys was born July 30, 1916, near Staples, to Chester and Mary (Welch) Randall. She grew up in rural Staples until she moved to Crosby, at the age of seventeen. She married Harry Albert Clark in 1933. Together they had nine children and lived near Crosby.
Gladys studied nursing at the Cambridge State Hospital under the Civil Service Law and later worked there as an LPN. On Aug. 10, 1963, she married Donald Henry Christensen. Together they had one daughter. The family lived in Minneapolis, then moved to rural Duluth and later settled in Pine County. Together, they owned several small businesses.
She enjoyed fishing, picking berries, embroidering, cooking, canning, playing bingo, dancing, listening to the Twins, and traveling. She is a life member of the VFW Post 6692 in Rush City and the American Legion Post 51 in Pine City.
Gladys is survived by her husband Donald; five sons, Kenneth (Marge); Richard; Robert; Edwin (Rita); and Larry (Peggy) Clark; three daughters, Cheryol Otis; Sherri (David) Johnson; Shellie Johnson; 38 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 20 great great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; one son Leslie Clark; and one daughter Shayla Wuotila; four brothers, Harold, Arthur, Emerald and Wilbur Randall; one sister, Lylah Vukelich.
Casketbearers were Allan Clark, Aaron Johnson, Zachary Otis, David Nelson, Bob Clark Jr. and Joshua Johnson.
