Police get report of garbage dumping
Among numerous items reported to Staples Police the past week were the following:
o Garbage Dumping: Ed Vogel reported on July 5 that his dumpster at his trailer court at 401 Fourth Ave. N. E., was being used by someone and that Vogel wasn’t having that dumpster picked up because no one is in the court at this time. Vogel had several pieces of mail with the person’s name on it. An officer told the individual to take his garbage back and bring proof of garbage service to the police office by Friday or he will be charged with theft of service.
o Staples police were called July 5 to the Miller True Value for a shoplifting complaint. Reported taken was a $36.99 hooded sweatshirt. Incident is under investigation for possible charges of theft.
o Staples Police were called at 8:04 a.m. July 4 to a vehicle in the ditch between T Maxwells and Ernie’s. Instead, the officer found the vehicle in the ditch between Ernie’s and the railroad tracks. The driver, Heather Marie Schluetter, said she fell asleep and drove into the ditch. She said she was not hurt and it appeared there was no damage to the vehicle. A family member was coming to pull the vehicle out of the ditch.
o On June 28 Phil Hoemberg reported that sometime on June 26 or 27, someone threw eggs and wrote with catsup on his car while parked in his yard. Other damage to the car was scratches on the hood and cracks in the T top.

Sarah DeWald was arrested on a warrant from Anoka County and cited for no insurance by TCSO. Her boyfriend, Guthrie Whitney came to the scene to get DeWald’s daughter and the vehicle. He did not have a valid drivers license, so the vehicle was released to a friend, Heather Miller.
