The Staples Motley American Legion team downed Cass Lake-Leech Lake 8-4 in the local Legion team’s first game of the 2010 summer season.

Je remy Hoemberg pitched all seven innings for the SM crew, striking out seven, giving up six hits and two earned runs.

Leading hitters included Jordan Riewer,who was two for four at the plate, with three RBI’s and he scored twice.

Chad Beebe had one hit and drove in one run, while Anthony Jenkins was also one for four at the plate

The American Legion team played again on June 18 and June 21 (see story below).
