Arlan Bakke
Arlan N. Bakke, 74, of Staples Motley, died June 9, 2010 at Lakewood Health System, Staples.
Memorial services were held June 18, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with Pastor Barry Klein, Staples Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in the Motley Public Cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
Arlan was born Sept. 8, 1935 in Luverne, to Selmer and Mabel (Carlson) Bakke. He graduated from high school in Edgerton. Arlan worked as an electrician more than 50 years retiring from Bakke Electric in 2009.
He was a member of the Lion’s Club in Motley, a founder volunteer fireman, Fire Chief of the Scandia Valley Township Fire Department and a member of the Minnesota Inventors Congress and recipient of the Inventors Congress Star Award. He enjoyed fishing.
Arlan is survived by four children, Kim Bakke of Luverne; Todd (Sheryl) Bakke, Crystal; Dave Bakke, Norwalk, Calif.; Lynn Bakke, Luverne; six step-children, Dan (Dawn Keck) Caron, Circle Pines; Roxanne (Gordy) Gorton, White Bear Lake; Ginger (Terry) Reitberger, Aurora, Colo.; Randy (Deb Vorwerk) Caron, Motley; Denise Baxter, Ft. Meyers, Fla.; Terry Baxter, Oklee; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister, Arlene Johnson, Pearland, Texas; and special friend, Florence Grunwald of Motley.
