Relay for Life
Staple s E vents of R elay For Life started out with the Survivors Dinner sponsored by Lakewood Health System. The wrap up meeting held on June 16, ended six months of preparation.
We had always dreaded the thought of how we would proceed if the weather didn’t cooperate. Now we know. The committee and the school grounds keeper made the decisions early in the day to move Relay events to the elementary gym, based on the weather forecast for rain.
That allowed ample time to post the luminaries on the lockers and walls of the hallways. The plus was that they were easy to read at eye level. The minus was that there were no candles inside. Sta ples The a ucti ons were spirited and the teams played many games together. Food and music made the night pass quickly.
The teams raised $25,000 to save lives and create more birthdays by helping you stay well—helping you get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
Receiving recognition as a sliver team was the Staples Bakery and Convenience with $5,748.37 bronze team were Lakewood Health System with $4,433.35 and Bosom Buddies with $3,040.67.
Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated.
Save the second weekend of June 2011 to return and possibly become part of a team or committee.
Thank you, Staples Motley area, for your involvement and support.
