For your safety-part 2

After seeing a video on face book today, with members of the Staples Motley girls track team riding in a school van after the state meet (they had state track jerseys on) not wearing their seat belts, made me wonder...Who was driving? Did the driver have their seat belt on? Do the students trust the driver with their lives? Do the parents trust the drivers that transport their children that much? Do they trust that all the other drivers are safe drivers?

Our youth of today are our future. If we don’t teach them the rules of the road, who will? In the news there have been numerous school van accidents where many students are badly hurt or worse have died because they haven’t had the seat belts on.

I hope in the future, whoever is transporting students in a van, car or a bus that is equipped with seat belts, make sure the students are using them. They do save lives when used.

Just one more thing... Remember it is the law in Minnesota.

Thank you.

Gail L. Jasmer Hopkins, Minn.
