Up to the doorway
Construction on old Hwy. 10 in Staples, part of the city’s 2nd Ave. Turnback Project, has the road torn up from 9th St. east almost to the intersection of 12th St. The intersections of 9th, 10th and 11th Streets are closed across 2nd Ave. For the next two weeks Tom’s Backhoe Service and Excavating, the general contractor, will be working on sanitary sewer, watermain, services and storm sewer in that area. Temporary water has been set up for the residents and businesses in that section of the project and will be used for two to three weeks. Sewer trenching on 9th and 11th Streets is done and the contractor plans to start laying a Class 5 aggregate next week. To encourage people to continue to visit businesses in the affected area, the Staples Motley Area Chamber of Commerce and the Staples Downtown Revitalization Board is offering a prize of $25 in Chamber Bucks. Register between June 24 and July 2 at Williams Floral and Nursery, Super America and the Dairy Queen to be entered in the first drawing. (Staples World photo by Brenda Halvorson)
