Cardinals boys end at state track meet
Jason Johnson competed in the discus, Brian Huber jumped in both the high jump and long jump events, and Brandon Larson represented the Cards in the triple jump.
Throwing the discus on Saturday, senior Jason Johnson was hampered a little by the light rain, but he still managed to throw 142 feet, one inch, placing eighth. This was Johnson’s second trip to the state tournament.
Brian Huber competed in two events; In the long jump he jumped 20 feet, 2-3/4 inches, a distance that put him within a half inch of qualifying for the final round. He finished in eleventh place in the long jump.
In the high jump he barely missed 6 feet, four inches, which would have put him in third place; however he took ninth with a jump of 6’2”.
Brandon Larson, another senior, was in the triple jump, where he recorded a jump of 40 feet, four inches, which didn’t qualify him for finals, but put him in 13th place.
Johnson and Larson, along with Josh Freese, Isaac Fuhrman, Ryan Detloff, Leighton Griffith and Henrick Schoenian were the track seniors class of 2010.
