Trip to D.C.

We need your help. The Staples Host Lions Club is once again sponsoring a free trip to Washington D.C. for the World War II Veterans and other veterans who are terminally ill. This trip will be April 15 and 16, 2011.

Of all the wars it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation and as a culturally diverse free society. Now with over 1,000 World War II veterans dying each day, our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.

Staples Host Lions and Honor Flight Network will continue to do whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans and help our senior heroes travel absolutely free to see the memorials in Washington D.C. We need your support. If you can see it in your heart to support one veteran or just a small donation it would be much appreciated.

I was proud to have been along on the first trip as a Vietnam Veteran and Guardian. It is something I’ll always remember the rest of my life. These brave men and women deserve this honor. Three of the veterans from our first trip have since died. Let’s not forget their sacrifices.

We remember those departed each and every day. Men and women who Staples World stood tall with pride the American way. Duty beckoned. They met the call. All gave some. Some gave all. Remember those brave warriors. Place flags and be sure to pray. They who fought for our freedom shed blood for a brighter day. When duty beckoned they always stood tall. All gave some. Some gave all.

The Staples Host Lions Honor Flight Central Minnesota will be having an informational meeting, open to anyone interested in going or helping raise funds, at 7 p.m. June 21, at the Lions Building, 402 Wisconsin Avenue in Staples.

A proud Marine Vietnam Veteran Huck Holst Staples, Minn.
