Auditions set for LCT summer show
Lamplighter Community Theatre (LCT) has set audition dates for a new summer production for June 22 and 23, from 6-9 p.m. at Centennial Auditorium, Staples.
“Urning It” is a two act comedy by Ed Vela. The story is a family road trip to take Aunt Gertie’s ashes from New Jersey to Los Angeles for the reading of the will. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
“Think ultimate road trip with Chevy Chase in ‘Vacation’ without National Lampoon,” said Kevin Olsen, LCT president.
Actors needed include one adult male, one adult female, two daughters and one son. The children should be middle school to high school age.
In addition, parts are available for up to eight adults in cameo roles. These are characters the family meets during the trip and so are smaller parts.
Performances are tentatively scheduled for the first week in August.
Anyone interested in a part, but who cannot make the audition times, can call Olsen at 218-894-2640 or Becky Hasselberg at 218-894-3844 to set up an alternate time.
The LCT board is also seeking a director for this production. Anyone interested can call Hasselberg.
Other set and technical people will also be needed as well as help with public relations. Anyone interested can come to auditions or call Olsen or Hassleberg.
Initially, the community theatre company was planning to present the light comic opera “Pirates of Penzance” by Gilbert and Sullivan this summer. However, auditions yielded less than the minimum number of actors needed for the production. The LCT board still plans to stage this show, probably next spring or summer.
