Myron Sandberg

Myron Eugene Sandberg, 85, Pillager, died May 29, 2010 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples.

Funeral services were held June 5, at the First Lutheran Church in Pillager with Pastor Heather Culuris officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Wildwood Cemetery, Pillager.

Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.

Myron was born Sept. 15, 1924 to Oscar and Amy Sandberg in Crosby. When Myron was young his family moved to Pillager. In 1942, he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the 1st Cavalry, 5th Regiment. Myron returned home, Dec, of 1945.

In 1951, he married Lois Eileen Morgan. He lived and work many years in Little Falls until he moved to St. Cloud in 1974. Myron and Lois were able to enjoy 16 years of cross country traveling and then returning back to the Pillager area. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Pillager, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, wood working and attending Pillager School sports events.

Myron is survived by his wife of 58 years; two daughters, Laurel; Myra (Rodney) Horner; one son, Jon (Mary) Sandberg; four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Rudie; two sisters, Charlotte Erickson; Doris Thomas; several nieces and nephews.
