Israelson leads Cards at Section 6AA first round

Albany had a first day round of 364, with St. Cloud Cathedral finishing at 370, Staples Motley at 377 and Pequot Lakes edged out Rocori for the final team spot in the second round at The Territory golf course, which will be played June 3.

The Cardinals were led by eighth grader Emily Israelson who shot an 88. Senior Kelly Hagenson came in one stroke behind at 89. Tera Weyer shot an 99 on The Territory, while Kylee Helling, another eighth grader, shot a 101.

Rounding out the section team for the Cardinals were Cierra Waverek (115) and Katie Dennis (121).

The top four teams and top eight individuals not on a team, will play in the second round.

Alyssa Kalthoff from Albany shot a 81 for medalist honors. Laura Hintzen of Sauk Centre shot 86, as did Lucy Gaetz from St. Cloud Cathedral.

Tying for fourth place at 88 were Israelson and Tiffany Gretsch from Albany. Three girls tied for sixth at 89, including Hagenson, Baily Schulte and Marija Sorensen, both from Roco-. ri.
