An opportunity to show appreciation for efforts

By Loren Morey

Staples Re sid ents and organizations in the Staples and Motley area have an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments and volunteer efforts of the many individuals and groups that live and work in our area.

The Staples Community Foundation has been in existence for a number of years. This organization was created to provide grant funds and services to make the Staples and Motley area a great place to live. One of those services is to annually recognize individuals and organizations for outstanding achievement and services provided to the Staples and Motley area.

The Staples Community Foundation is currently soliciting nominations for recognition at the annual Community Awards Celebration to be held October 7, 2010, at T Maxwells in Staples.

The award categories are: Duane R. Lund Award for Lifetime Achievement; Staples Ci tiz en of t he Year; Chairman’s Award; Business of the Year; Organization of the Year; and Youth of the Year.

Applications are available at any of the financial institutions in Motley and Staples, the Staples World, Staples City Hall, the Staples Community Foundation website or by contacting any Staples Community Foundation member listed on the website. Eligible candidates are those that live or work or provide services in the Motley and Staples area.

As a past recipient of the Duane R. Lund Award for Lifetime Achievement, I would encourage nominations in these categories to recognize the efforts of individuals, businesses and groups that provide services that benefit all of us who live and work in the Staples and Motley area. The application deadline is June 15.

The mission of the Staples Community Foundation is to develop and strengthen community resources and to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families and organizations in and around the Staples Motley School District. This event recognizes those who embrace that mission.
