Suzanne Germann

Suzanne “Sue” Marian (Spencer) Germann, 82, of Staples died at the Lakewood Health System Senior Campus Hospice in Staples on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 29, 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Staples.

Visitation is at the Brenny Funeral Home, Staples on Friday, May 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Arrangements are withthe Brenny Funeral Chapel, Staples.

Sue was born July 27, 1927 in St. Louis Park to Daniel and Marian (Kisler) Spencer. She moved with her family to the Brainerd area in 1936. They moved to Staples in 1940, where she graduated from Staples High School with the Class of 1945.

She married Harold Germann on Nov. 6, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church in Staples. Over the years she was employed at the Wadena County Court House (Registry of Deeds Dept.), Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., Anthony’s Department Store, Sacred Heart School and Miller True Value.

Sue enjoyed cooking, always looking for new and creative recipes. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and enjoyed attending sports events of her children and grandchildren. Tending her gardens and caring for a vast variety of birds around her home gave her great pleasure. Sue was an active member of Sacred Heart Church.

Sue is survived by her husband; three sons, Steven (Carla) Germann, Davenport, Iowa; Rev. Lauren Germann, Sartell; Lynn (Kim) Germann, Motley; four daughters, Margie (Martin) Etzler, Staples; Julie (Ron) Kuschel, St. Cloud; Jeanne (Mike) Hajek, Staples; Jayne (Tom) Olson, Barnesville; two brothers, Charles Spencer, Staples; Daniel (LaVyrle) Spencer, Stillwater; five sisters, Nancy (Al) Case; Faye Case; Carol Hyndman; Jeanne Huebner; all of Staples and Barbara (Wayne) Longbella, Glyndon; one sisterin law, Lorraine Spencer, Minnetonka; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Craig Spencer; one sister, Edith Miller; four brothers-in-law, George Huebner, Jay Miller, Bruce Case, Dick Hyndman; and one sister-in-law, Aline Spencer.
