Todd, Wadena counties have few filings
Filing for county offices to be filled in this fall’s elections have not produced many contests after one week in either Todd or Wadena counties.
Filing continues until 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 1.
In Todd County, the only race so far is in the sheriff’s department, where Sheriff Pete Mikkelson and Investigator Scott Dirkes have both filed.
In other Todd County offices, only the incumbent has filed. They include Attorney Charles Rasmussen, Auditor Karen Busch, District 2 Commissioner Gary Kneisl, District 4 Commissioner David Kircher, Recorder Cheryl Perish and Soil and Water District 1 Norm Krause.
In Wadena County, there will be a contest for county auditor. Char West, the incumbent, faces a challenge from Brian James Hagen.
The other Wadena County positions have only the incumbent without an opponent as of Tuesday. They include County Attorney Kyra Ladd, Sheriff Mike Carr, Recorder Soledad Henriksen and Third District County Commissioner Bill Stearns.
There were no filings for either the first or fifth county commissioner positions.
The filing period opened Tuesday, May 18 and runs through Tuesday, June 1.
