(Staples World photo by Brenda Halvorson) The Staples Motley Community Education Advisory Council at their May 19 meeting bid farewell to retiring community education director Alan Judd, left, and welcomed Chris Etzler, who will be taking the position July 1. Sally Gorton noted that she was chair of the council when Alan took the job 24 years ago and is the current chair. “The job in community education is reaching out to the citizens of the district and doing your best for them,” Gorton said, “and Alan has.” Judd thanked the council, the school district and his co-workers Julie Polak and Linda Oman. “I could not have created a better job than the one that I’ve had,” he said. Judd also said he knows Etzler to be a very “capable” person and “I look forward to special things happening” in that office.
