‘Stay on Track with the Turnback’ party is June 3

Sumo Wrestling: Nate the Barbarian vs. Crusher Chris

“Stay on Track with the Turnback!” is the theme for this summer in Staples.

Construction on Second Avenue, also known as old Highway 10, is set to begin early in June. When completed late this fall or next spring, the improved road will be turned back to the City of Staples as a city street.

The Staples Motley Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the improvements with a “Turnback Kick-Off Party” next Thursday, June 3, from 5-7:30 p.m. on 4th St. in downtown Staples. In case of bad weather the festivities will be moved to the Staples Community Center.

A special attraction will be a sumo wrestling bout with Nate the Barbarian versus Crusher Chris.

The party will have a construction theme and people are encouraged to come dressed as a construction worker for a costume contest.

Some heavy equipment will be parked in the area and visitors can have their photos taken with it.

Children will be able to play in a sand box that will also be the site of a treasure hunt.

Other features include speakers, food, games and music with fun dance opportunities for everyone.

Some Staples businesses will hold sidewalk sales that day during their regular business hours.

For more information call the chamber at 218-894- 3974.
