ON May 13, at the biggest meet of the season, the Cards finished in fifth place competing against schools such as Sartell, Pequot Lakes, Perham, Little Falls, Fergus Falls, East Grand Forks, Detroit Lakes, St. Cloud Cathedral and Thief River Falls.

The Sartell Sabres won the meet and will be compeing May 22 in the state True Team meet.

The tough competition set the boys back a little, but they still performed well, coach Ryan Beachy felt.

The only first place finish for the Cards came from senior Jason Johnson, who’s still going strong in discus, throwing 146 feet, 8 inches.

Brian Huber took second in the high jump and Brandon Larson was third in the triple jump, while Brandon Sterricker vaulted to third in the pole vault.

Other high places came from the 4x400 meter relay (Ryan Odden, Zach Borders, Leighton Griffith, Josh Freese) who finished third, and the 4x800m relay (Freese, Odden, Griffith, Brandon Sterricker) who finished fourth.
