The Cardinal girls defeated Pelican Rapids 6-2 at Pelican, with Abby Edin pitching and allowing just six hits, while not giving up a single walk. She faced 27 batters and had good command of her pitches, according to Coach Bruce Onischuk.

Staples Motley scored four runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth.

“Between our defense and Abby’s pitching, we were able to close the game out with a 6-2 win,” Coach Onischuk said

Ashley Miles had a good night in the field, Onischuk said, as well as with her bat. She was two for four at the plate with one run batted in. Eighth grader Kelsey Zetah also shined in the field and was one for four with two RBI’s. The Cards had six hits and made only two errors.

Hallie Olsen came in as a pinch hitter in the top of the seventh inning. She came up with a base hit, but the Cards did not capitalize on that hit.

Pelican scored two runs in the fifth inning. They led off with a double, Abby struck out the next batter, than a single, a fly out to the short stop, another single and another strikeout. Catcher MacKenzie Holst dropped the third strike but was able to throw the hitter out as she ran to first base.
