My turn

I know that what I am about to say will make some people upset or even angry. That is your right as a United State citizen; as so, it is my right to have free speech to express my views.

I have watched the news broadcast every day with disgust, I see our Great nation falling apart at the seams. Unemployment, deficit and immigration reform to name a few. Our congressional leaders need to open their eyes as to what is happening to our country. With immigration reform looming in the future, “we are really in for it”. The Obama administration wants basically, to give amnesty to all those that have crossed the borders illegally. This will give them the right to VOTE… and for who? (Puerto Rico will most likely be voting in the near future also). I’ve watched on the news this morning about the Hispanics protesting across the country. Racial profiling is the “cause”. Arizona did nothing wrong. The Federal government makes it a Felony to enter and live in this county if you are an illegal immigrant. Period. What part of that don’t they understand?

Our country was made “Great” by all the immigrants coming to this country for hundreds of years. All of the immigrants went through the process to become American citizens. I am not against Hispanic, Norwegians, Albanians or any other nationalities coming to this country to live, but, they must become citizens, pay taxes and contribute to the well being of our nation. But why do our neighbors south of our border think it is their “God given right” to be here illegally, a felony and protest that being asked to see his or her green card is Racial Profiling. I have seen the Hispanic protesters at Montebello High School in California take the American flag down, put up a Mexican flag, and then put the American flag upside down under the Mexican flag. If they want citizenship, this is absolutely not the way to do it.

It has angered hundreds of thousands of citizens here in the United States, including myself. This has been several years ago, and there have been many, many more protests since then. More vocal and radical than ever. Why do we allow this? If they want to come here and work, that’s great, pay taxes like everyone else. Get a medical plan like everyone else. Get a work visa or get your citizenship. As an illegal immigrant, you shouldn’t be getting government subsidies, like welfare, free medical or as proposed with the Immigration Reform, that you will get Social Security, even thought you never paid a dime towards it. There are millions of illegal’s here in the USA, between American companies moving off shore and the millions of illegal’s taking jobs from taxpaying citizens, no wonder it is part of the problem we have the highest unemployment rate since “The Great Depression.”

I am a proud American Viet Nam Vet, while on duty to my country; I have seen hundreds of aliens in the service in order to fill their obligation to become a legal citizen. I fought alongside of them. They deserved to become citizens for fighting for and believing in what our country stands for. So, I have always been told, “If you complain, have a solution”. That would be a good start for those illegal, serve our country. Be proud to do your part and earn your “Right” to become a citizen, don’t just sneak across the border and expect to have the same rights of an “American Citizen”. Become an American Citizen the right way. You will be welcomed with open arms.

I am proud of my country. I, as many others, have earned the right to be here. You just can’t break the laws of our country and think you have the “right” to be here and do as you please without consequences.
