Cardinal track boys win first home meet

Sixty-four points ahead of the Melrose Dutchmen, the Staples Motley boys took first place at the Cardinal Rainmaker Thursday, April 15.
Twelve first place finishes and four second place finishes contributed to the Cards high score.
All four relay teams out ran the competition.
The Cardinals Josh Freese won the 200 meter dash and Rob Odden won the 400 meter race. Brandon Sterriker won the 800 meter race.
Placing first in both the long jump and the triple jump was Brandon Larson, while Brian Huber leaped to first in the high jump with a jump of 6’2”.
Jason Johnson threw the discus 153 feet, 8 inches to take first, while Sterriker took the number one spot in pole vaulting.
Blake Miller finished second in the 3200 meter run. Also placing second for SM was Eli Beachy in the pole vault, Brian Huber in the long jump and Henrick Schoenian in the 110 meter hurdles.
Five third place finishes also contributed to the title.
The boys are looking good coming off their second week of action. This week they will be in Wadena-Deer Creek Invite on Thursday, while next Thursday will see them traveling to the Hawley Invite.
