“Books in the Parks” ceremony is May 13

Ribbon cutting ceremonies celebrating the launch of the new “Books in the Parks” program will be held in Motley at 4:30 p.m. and in Staples at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2010. The public is invited to join the celebration.

The Staples Motley Early Childhood Coalition will be placing two Books in the Parks containers - one in Converse Park in Motley and the other in the Northern Pacific Park in Staples. The books will be available to read in the parks or to take home. They may not be thrown away or sold. All of the books have been donated by individuals in the communities.

Above: Students enrolled in the occupational child care courses at Staples Motley High School and the preschoolers attending SMHS Child Care prepared for the Books in the Parks program sponsored by the Staples Motley Early Childhood Coalition. High school students separated books for the appropriate age groups and the preschoolers helped count all of the donated books. The preschoolers were learning how to count to ten and piled books into groups of ten to reach the total.
