Former Cardinal basketball player now shooting hoops at CLC

Cassie Pearson, daughter of Dennis and Julie Pearson of Staples, had a good season playing for the Central Lakes College basketball team this past year.
A 2008 graduate of Staples Motley High School, and sophomore at CLC, Cassie averaged 20 points a game this past season, ranking eighth in the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) in the nation.
Cassie ended the season with 510 points. She also averaged nine rebounds a game, which ranked her 42 in the nation in the NJCAA.
In three-point shooting, Cassie ranked sixth in the nation, at 45 percent. For shooting three-pointers, she made 85/188, the most three-pointers attempted and also the most made by a post player.
Cassie also ranked 27th in the nation in free throw percentage, at 73 percent; she was ranked 23rd for blocks in the nation for NJCAA; made All-Division State team and First Team All State.
