Virginia Penquite
Virginia Penquite, 78, of Staples, died April 4, 2010 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 9, at the Staples United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Horn officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the Second Creek Cemetery in Blanchester, Ohio.
Virginia was born Nov. 16, 1931 to Judson and Hazel (Worstell) Neal in Middletown, Ohio. She attended school there graduating from the Middletown High School in 1950. She went on to attend nursing school, graduating as RN in 1953.
She married Wilson Penquite on Aug. 19, 1954, in Springfield, Ohio. They settled in Blanchester and started a family. Virginia worked as a nurse in various nursing homes, retiring in 1995. In 2001, she moved to Staples to be near her family. She was an active member in her church choir, ladies aid, teaching Sunday School, leading Coffee Bible Study, a 4-H advisor and member of the History Club.
She enjoyed genealogy, painting, reading and playing digital solitaire.
Virginia is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Wes) Johnson of Marshall; eight grandchildren and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; one daughter, Meg Penquite; one son, John Penquite; and one brother, James (Jane) Neal.
