Opening number


The cast of the Staples Motley High School’s production of “Fiddler on the Roof,” sang their opening number, “Tradition,” at a recent dress rehearsal. Musical director for the show is Steve Hoemberg; artistic director is Matt Olsen; and the pit orchestra is directed by Jeff Iverson. Performances are set for 7 p.m., Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 8 - 10 and 2 p.m., Sunday, April 11. Tickets are available at the high school principal’s office from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. on school days; and they will also be sold at the door. “Fiddler on the Roof” takes place in the little village of Anatevka, where Tevye, a poor dairyman, tries to instill in his five daughters the traditions of his tight-knit Jewish community in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
