Joseph Featherstone

Joseph T. Featherstone, 92, formerly of Staples, died March 24, 2010, at Chula Vista Calif.

A private burial was held.

Joseph was born in Staples, 1917, to James and Florence Featherstone. He attended the Staples schools and played trumpet in the Harry Peterson band in Staples. Joseph went on to play trumpet in a professional Midwest dance band.

Joseph and his family moved to Staples in 1914, where is father purchased the Staples World newspaper. His father later became the Staples Postmaster. In 1934, the Featherstone’s moved to Minneapolis, where Joseph attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1940. He spent three years in the U.S. Navy.

In 1942, he married Lynn. Joseph was a pilot for Northwest Airline. He retired in Hawaii and later they moved to San Diego.

Joseph is survived by one son, Dean (Allana) Featherstone; two daughters, Barbara and Marska; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Wayne and James Featherstone; parents; and one brother, James.
