Taking the interim director job at NJPA
It’s hard to believe that the snow is melted and it is almost Easter. Wow, it seems like just yesterday we were having our open houses.
At this month’s school board meeting, the board approved a contract with NJPA for me to spend 25 percent of my time helping that organization from now until the end of the fiscal year. They are in immediate need of an interim director. To help fill in some of my current duties, the school board then hired Jim Hofer on a 25 percent time for the remainder of the fiscal year. Nope… Jim just can’t seem to stay retired.
The reason I accepted this short term task was two-fold. One, NJPA is our neighbor. Growing up on a farm I’ve always been taught; when a neighbor is in need, we help them out. The other reason is more self serving. NJPA is both a local business in town providing many jobs for our local economy and is a service cooperative for our district. Helping keep this organization strong is good for our district in the services we receive as well as strengthen our local economy.
Please know that whatever I do, I do to help our communities and students. This is one of those responsibilities, even though it involves a different organization.
On a different note, I would like to congratulate our students and coaches on a successful winter activity season. Your hard work and dedication proved that our athletes and speech competitors have what it takes to succeed when back by a supportive community of parents and coaches.
Have a great spring everyone! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for warm weather.
