Members of the Staples and Motley Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting at the Staples Thrift and Gift Shop, housed in the former Staples Dollar Store building. The group attending included, from left, Lee Jenkins, president of the chamber; Amy Hunter, chamber executive; Jennifer Burton, store manager; Casey Dause,co-manager; Mike Kedrowski with the Friends of Staples group; Jolleen Yungbauer, from Fashion Joutiques; Sally Fall, chamber board member; and Staples Mayor Chris Etzler. The Thrift and Gift Shop is sponsored by the Friends of Staples, a nonprofi t group that is leasing the building. Nine different businesses are currently included as part of the Thrift and Gift shop, which is intended as a business incubator, according to Kedrowski. They include crafters, a business selling balloons of all kinds, a small engine repair shop and several others. All workers in the store are volunteers.
