Five Wings Arts Council grants
The Five Wings Arts Council recently reviewed Community Arts Access grant applications and awarded funding for the following arts events and activities in the five county region of Cass, Crow Wing, Wadena, Morrison and Todd:
Crossing Arts Alliance’s art camp for children in June, Brainerd
From Age to Age, vocal concerts in Little Falls and Pequot Lakes, June
Grassroots Concerts, concert series through 2010, Brainerd
Great River Arts Association, to sponsor the musical “Oliver” in July, Little Falls
Heartland Symphony for the Famous Composers concerts, Brainerd and Little Falls in April
Lakes Area Chamber Music Festival for classical music performances, Brainerd in August
Legacy Chorale to produce choral concerts, Brainerd and Crosslake in April
Madhatters, Inc, Wadena, to produce “On Golden Pond” in March and April, Wadena
Old Wadena Society, Wadena, to support the Rendezvous and Folklife Festival in August
Prairie Players, Long Prairie, for the production of “She Loves Me” in August
St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, to sponsor the U Rock Summer Camp and the Fiddle Festival, both in August
Staples Area Men’s Chorus to assist in sponsorship of the Big Sing Choral Festival April 17, Staples
Staples Motley Area Arts Council for the Prairie Fire Theatre, Staples in June
USA Community Chorus, for choral music workshops for Swanville elementary school students in October
Whiskey Creek Film Festival, for screening festival winners and short films at Wadena’s Cozy Theatre in September
Community access grants of up to $5,000 are available to community groups and nonprofit organizations to produce their own arts activities or sponsor touring artists / activities. This provides the opportunity for arts access to every community in the region. These activities are funded, in part, by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008.
