Flooding on Crow Wing
2010-03-18 / Crow Wing Currents
Rising water along the Crow Wing River south and east of Motley caused at least one person to be evacuated Tuesday afternoon. Mary Rudolph had to be helped from her home (above) by members of the Pillager Fire Department. Neighbor Verde Pepin said ice floes formed a dam at a bend in the river just downstream from Rudolph’s home, causing the Crow Wing’s water to back up. Several low-lying homes and cabins in the area had water closing in. By Tuesday evening the ice dam had broken and the water had receded. By Wednesday morning, Pepin reported the water had gone done about 2-1/2 feet. (Staples World photo by Tom Crawford)
