Ann and Robb Peterson of 275th Avenue just south of Staples had a surprise visitor just before 5 p.m. Tuesday. A pickup driven by Tim Mears of Staples left Hwy. 210 on the curve, crossed a ditch and the avenue before crashing into the side of their two-car garage. Mears was taken by Staples Ambulance to the Lakewood Health System Hospital. Staples Fire and Rescue personnel checked out the damage above.
