March is Food Share Month
Motley Area Food Shelf helping fight hunger in Central Minnesota
      Volunteers with the Motley Area Food Shelf are hoping to collect a total of $20,000 worth of food supplies (both pounds and dollars) during March - Food Share Month. Last year, $18,000 was collected, said Sharon Stone, one of the directors of the MAFS.

Motley accident
      A Motley woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident shortly before noon Monday at the intersection of Highway 10 and 210 in Motley. Betty Farber was admitted to the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples with apparent back injuries and bruises, according to a family member. Her vehicle had already been removed when this photo was taken.

Pillager food shelf feeds the hungry
Staff grateful for Food Share Month donations
     “We’ve been very busy around here,” Pillager Area Food Shelf coordinator Alice Korwes reported recently, while boxing groceries for a waiting client. “Last month, I believe we had 70 families that came here for food. One of our families consists of 10 people,” Alice added.

Town hall listening session
      Senator Mary Olson, DFL-Bemidji, will host a town hall listening session Friday, March 5, 9 a.m., at city hall in Pillager. According to Sen. Olson, the meeting is designed to give area residents the opportunity to offer input on issues the Legislature will be addressing this session.

Has Motley violated the open meeting law?
City auditor questions council during 2009 audit report
      Concerns about possible violations of the open meeting law were expressed by the city’s auditor at the regular Motley City Council meeting Feb. 23. It was a relatively short meeting (approximately one-half hour), led by Mayor Konrad Alexander, with council members Nancy Nieken and Bruce Mills in attendance. Council members Rob Sampson and Duane Solga were absent.
