W-DC Hockey boys lose 2 games
The Wolverines lost 4-1, to the Northern Lakes squad on Feb. 11 and then lost 5-1 to St. Cloud Apollo on Saturday in the Section 6 1A first round playoffs.
Last Thursday against Northern Lakes, Muehler had 43 saves as the Lightning outshot W-DC 47-20. Likewise Muehler made 39 saves in the St. Cloud Apollo game, where the Wolverines were outshot 44-10.
The lone scorer for the Wolverines was Taylor Bienusa, who got an assist on his first period goal from Logan Meyer.
Cody Chambers scored twice for the Lightning, who picked up the 4-1 Mid State Conference victory. Also scoring for Northern Lakes were Connor Chambers and Chris Smieja.
The Northern Lakes improve to 5-3 in the conference and 15-8 overall.
Brandyn Swanson scored the lone goal for the Wolverines in their 5-1 loss to St. Cloud Apollo.
Swanson’s goal came on a power play, with an assist from Taylor Bienusa at 13:59 of the second, improving the Wolverines to a 3-1 disadvantage. Apollo finished the game with a pair of goals in the third.
The loss to Apollo means the Wolverines now have a season record of four wins and 19 losses.
