This great horned owl had set up camp Tuesday at the base of a tree in Shirley Denning’s front yard, just feet from busy 8th Street N.E. The owl apparently captured and killed a squirrel and is staying as long as there is a meal. Shirley said the owl, which has been there since sometime Monday afternoon, is hiding the squirrel remains under his feathers. He seemed to have little fear of vehicles or people walking by.
