Nearly 90 people participated in the ‘Winter Golf Tournament’ at The Castaway Bar and Grill on Lake Alexander last Saturday; an annual event hosted by the Lincoln Scandia Valley Lions Club.
Golfers came from all over Minnesota...competing for prizes; and enjoying free chili, complements of the Castaway.
“The weather was beautiful... in the 30’s and sunny all day, which really helped people come out for this
tournament,” said Lions
member Ardis Sandstrom. “Last year it was freezing...I
think we only had 34 participants.”
The Scandia Valley Lions were busy the day before the tournament, Ardis said, clearing snow from the lake to set up the 18- hole course. “It’s a lot of work, but well worth it. Everyone has a lot of fun.” Participants used their own golf clubs and tennis balls throughout the tournament.

Although 3rd and 4th place recipients all had the same score, they preferred to put their names in a hat for a drawing rather than participate in a play-off, Ardis said.
All proceeds from this event will go to benefit those in need from the Lincoln Scandia Valley area, through the organization’s mission to support various charities sponsored by Lions International.
