Team mate Jon Bristow stole the show with 22 points in the Cardinals 73-52 victory over the Minneapolis Washburn Millers Saturday.

Riewer had a career total of 1,764 points after the game with nine games plus playoffs remaining on this year’s schedule

Bristow led all scorers with 22 points and Derek Wolhowe knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with 15 as the Cardinals jumped out early on the defending Class 3A state champions.

They led 43-29 at halftime and outscored the Millers 30-23 in the second half

Friday night the Cardinal traveled to Pequot Lakes for a second meeting this year with Coach Gary Grewe’s Patriots. This time the Cards won again, 58-55.

Jason Johnson scored 15 points for team honors. Wolhowe with 11 and Gunner Johnson and Riewer with 10 points apiece all helped in the Mid State Conference win.

Wolhowe helped with eight rebounds, while Riewer had nine of his team’s assists.

Also last week, Staples Motley downed Pillager 76- 36 in a Monday night game. Riewer scored 18 points, while Wolhowe and Bristow added 12 apiece.

Cole Hunstad was the leading scorer for the Pillager Huskies with 12 points.

SM, which was 6-1 in conference play and 14-3 overall, is at Pierz Thursday and will host Minnewaska here on Friday, not Saturday. This game was re-scheduled this week, with varsity at 6 p.m.

For the season, Riewer has 267 points and is hitting 15.7 points per game. Wolhowe at 13.6 is right behind him with 231 points. Bristow is also averaging in double figures, 11.2 ppg and 191 total points.

(Staples World photo by Ken Klose) Riewer is making 40 percent of his three-point shots (36 for 88). He also leads the team in assists with 148 and steals (58); blocks (9) and turnovers (55). He’s second in rebounding with 114 boards.

Wolhowe leads in rebounds with 126, including 36 offensive rebounds. Bristow has 94 boards with Johnson following with 61.
