For a good cause

Second grade students in Desire Greenwaldt’s class and sixth grade students in Kasey Odden’s class at Sacred Heart Area School, Staples, made a pilgrimmage to the “Family Dollar” store in Staples on Feb. 5 to purchase household goods for recent fire victims. The students collected $120 to donate to the cause. While studying “wants versus needs” students identified items needed, compared costs and gathered only those items at the store, sticking to their list - things like bleach (below right) shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper (below left), bath towels, canned goods, a tote and laundry basekt (above), other items and even a toaster. Ruth Boldan of Leader, her granddaughter and family, Dawn and Jeff Weite and their children Kelsie and Logan, lost their home in a fire on Jan. 10. They are living with relatives (Ruth’s daughter) in the Leader area, where Mrs. Greenwaldt later delivered the items.
