Arjean Stoltz

Arjean Stoltz, 88, of Motley, died Jan. 31, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services are Thursday (today), Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.

Arjean was born July 19, 1921 in Stanton, Neb., to Harrison and Minnie Thorp. She graduated from Norfolk High School. She married Alfred Frederick Stoltz on July 21, 1941, in Denver, Colo. They lived in many different states over the years.

Together they ran Stoltz’s Resort, a resort café/bar north of Park Rapids. Alfred passed away in 1980, and Arjean lived in Motley since then. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Arjean is survived by three sons, Roger (Cheryl Fisher); Phillip; Ronald (Lisa Reece); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years; parents; one brother, Chet Thorp; and one sister, Caroline Conklin.
