Porter earns black belt in Tae Kwon Do

Black belt Sandy Porter completes sword techniques with Lucas JimBlack belt Sandy Porter completes sword techniques with Lucas Jim Sandy Porter, a member of United Tae Kwon Do Systems School in Staples tested Dec. 19, 2009, for her black belt.

The testing lasted three hours and was judged by Francisco Jiménez, 3rd Dan master instructor, representing the International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF).

Porter demonstrated nine forms, performed 150 push-ups, 150 crunches and 190 kicks using both legs. She also demonstrated blocking, kicking, self-defense, weapons and breaking techniques using boards and bricks.

She also underwent 16 minutes of non-stop sparring. In addition to on-site questioning, Porter also submitted a written report on the history, philosophy and benefits of Tae Kwon Do.

“It has been an honor to train with Mrs. Porter, to be a part of her life and to watch her grow in the art of Tae Kwon Do,” said instructor Francisco Jiménez.
