Cardinal girls claim one win, one postponement

(Submitted photo) The Staples Motley Cardinal girls basketball team defeated Detroit Lakes 59- 50 Tuesday, Jan. 19, in a game that saw 15 bas- kets from long range.

Cait- lin Robi nson scored 20 points for the Card inals, with Nikki Pearson adding 17. Robinson hit five in the game with Pearson and Ashley Lisson each adding one.

The Lakers had eight three point baskets with Kaylie Muckenhorn nailing four of them.

Mikayla Wing added 10 points for the Cardinals, who improved to 4-2 in the Mid State Conference and 10-3 overall.

Pequot Lakes leads the Mid State Conference girls basketball standings with six wins and no losses. Crosby-Ironton is 5-1 while the Cardinals are 4-2 in Mid State play.

DL is 3-11, Wadena-DC 1-5 and Park Rapids 0-6 in league play.

The Cardinal girls were scheduled to play Little Falls on Jan. 23 but the game was iced out. It has been re-scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, at Little Falls, with 9th and JV games at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30.
