Veronica Warner
Veronica Warner, 100, of Staples, died Jan. 24, 2010 at the Lakewood Health System Care Center, Staples.
Funeral services were held Jan. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Fr. Ronald Schmelzer officiating. Burial was in St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery in Moran Township, Todd County.
Arrangements were with the Iten Funeral Home, Browerville and Clarissa.
Veronica was born Sept. 30, 1909, in Staples to James and Mary (Adamietz) Sweeney. She grew up in Moran Township and LaCrosse, Wisconsin.
On Sept. 30, 1930, Veronica married John Emil Kempe. They farmed in the Bertha area, later moving to Staples. John passed away Nov. 4, 1967.
On Nov. 18, 1972, Veronica married Martin Theodore Hove.
Veronica was a CNA for 25 years at the Mary Rondorf Home in Staples.
Veronica loved spending time with her family, gardening, reading, playing scrabble, and crocheting afghans.
Veronica was a member of St. Isidore’s Church Circle and Sacred Heart Church Circle. The past four years she lived at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples.
Veronica is survived by seven daughters, Mary (Ray) Heaser of Bloomington; Rose Zetah of Motley; Bernie (George) Durbin of Waite Park; Virginia Reger of Staples; Dolores (Jerry) Kurpius of Winter Haven, Fla; Audrey (Bob) Goligowski of Brooklyn Park; Bonita (Delbert) Hansen of Staples; 31 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 13 great great-grandchildren and four brothers, Donald, Gerald, Dave and Cletus Sweeney.
She was preceded in death by her husbands John Kempe and Martin Hove; one son, John; one grandson, two sons-in-law, Jerry Zetah; Kenny Reger; one sister Mary Kowal and four brothers: Robert, James, John and Hugh Sweeney.
Casket bearers were her grandsons and greatgrandsons, Boyd Kempe, Todd Hansen, Bruce Zetah, Darek Kurpius, Lance Durbin and Jarrett Marstein.
