Donald D. Logering, 82, of Staples, died Jan. 18, 2010 at Lakewood Health System Hospital, Staples.

Funeral services were held Jan. 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, with Fr. Ron Schmelzer offi ciating. Burial was in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.

Don was born March 30, 1927, in Staples, to Theodore and Wilhemina (Borgert) Logering. He grew up near Browerville and attended school there. On Sept. 21, 1948, he married Louise Cronin at Sacred Heart Church. Donald owned his own construction company prior to going to work for the Staples School System as a janitor and maintenance man.

He also owned and operated a locksmith company in Staples for many years. He retired from the school system in late 1987, and later sold his locksmith business. He was head usher for Sacred Heart Church for many years. He enjoyed traveling, going to auctions, playing cards and antique cars and tractors.

Don is survived by his wife of 61 years; three daughters, Linda (Tom) Tappe; Peggy (Don) Sather; Debra (Greg) McGillivray; one son, Arnold Logering all of Staples; former daughter in-law, Julie Logering of Pierz; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; and one granddaughter; one brother, Alvin; and one sister, Wilma.
